Big Country
Chris and Devon are making their fall hunting plans when Devon draws the tag of a lifetime: Bighorn Sheep. Their original plan was to both travel to the same zone to hunt Mule Deer but with Devon’s draw he’ll be carrying a rifle and a sheep tag while Chris continues with his bow in search for mule deer. Two hunts in the same Region that couldn’t be more different.

Production
Big country was a high effort film. Following two different hunters, miles into the backcountry through sheep and mule deer territory was no easy feat. It involved diligence, some luck and a lot of leg work. The two story lines happened one after the other. Fortunately Devon was able to harvest his sheep earlier on in the trip which allow production to the shift over to Chris’ story chasing mule deer with his bow. To capture the narrative of the piece, the two storylines were told simultaneously to show the contrast in experiences that hunters can have chasing game. Success and failure are relative terms but are generally used to in relation to the harvest of an animal. The purpose of this story was to show how many things need to fall into place on top of the hard work that a hunter puts in for them to walk away with a backpack full of meat.
